Ocean Pals invites young artists to explore how sharks help shape healthy ocean communities. Students can create original artwork showing sharks as part of connected food webs and habitats—and use art to help replace fear with curiosity, knowledge, and care for the ocean.

The 2027 national contest is open to students in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the five inhabited U.S. territories, with four grade divisions: Grades K–2, Grades 3–5, Grades 6–8 and Grades 9–12. Posters must be received by February 12, 2027, not postmarked by that date.

Students can explore stories and information about sharks at https://beneaththesea.us/ocean-pals/sharks.html. Contest instructions, regional mailing details and the printable entry form are available at BeneathTheSea.us/ocean-pals/poster-contest/. Winners will be announced in March. The Ocean Pals Sunday program continues during the 2027 exposition.
